A Song Without Music
(because the world don't deserve music right now)
Until the world starts caring again
I'll take my leave in the bush
Until the world starts sharing again
I'll take my leave in the bush
Until the world stops killing
in the name of imaginary friends
Until the world stops hating
and starts making amends
I'll take my leave in the bush
Until the world stops fearing
the differently spoken stranger
Until the world stops seeing
darkness as imminent danger
I'll take my leave in the bush
Until the bombers stop bombing
Until the guns stop firing
Until people stop slashing faces
for being in the wrong places
I'll take my leave in the bush
Until the world starts caring again
Until the world starts loving again
I'll take my leave in the bush
Until people stop dying of starvation
Until people stop suffering of curable diseases
Until the world stops selling salvation
Until children stop washing up on beaches
Until...

How do you sleep at night
When you pass by but never stop
and quickly look the other way.
When your work pays well
but your heart is empty.
I wonder
How do you sleep at night
When you fear all that’s different
and hate all that’s foreign.
Except for your clothes and cars
and take away meals.
When you vote to sink boats
and detain the survivors.
I wonder
How do you sleep at night.
When you import cheap labour
to harvest your food
and deny them the rights
that are given to you.
When your country’s in drought
and you shower forever.
I wonder
How do you sleep at night
With your neo libertarian views
caring for only you.
With your blinkers
and lack of empathy.
With your investments
and pensions
locked inside
your gated community
I wonder
How do you sleep at night
When you consume
and consume
and keep on consuming
and give up on voting
because you don’t understand
and give up on caring
because outsiders don’t count
and give up on sharing.
I wonder
How do you sleep at night.
When you give up protesting
because it all gets to hard
and you give up fighting
to hold onto your job
and you give up believing
because it all gets confusing
And you give up debating
because google knows everything
How do sleep
when you rest your head on the pillow
How do you sleep
when you have no shadow,
I wonder
How does your spirit rest at night.

Lest We Regret
Away with your Anzacary
it's hangers on
and phony wars
Away with your ceremony
you flag waving
and chest thumping bores
Let it be with the grave of the last digger
Let it drift to legend like the knights templar
The crusades, black Monday and more
Lest we forget those that stood against
The oppression of human rights
objectors to violence
Those that died in the name of profit
At the hand of slum lords
In crumbling sweatshops
Lest we forget
Lest we regret
The sheep led to slaughter
And those that led.
The class that still leads.
Those trapped in poverty,
dysfunctional homes
gang mentality
Lest we forget
The generous imbursements
To the officer class
Who swallow the sovereign
to disperse their debt.
Lest we forget
deaths in custody
And deaths in country
When it was first invaded
It's people hounded and rounded
Up into inhuman conditions.
Away with your Anzacary
Lest we forget the convicts
Removed from their loved ones
For feeding their family
For the Irish and Scots
seeking independence
For those whose crime it was to be poor
shipped to the end of the world.
So once more
away with your Anzacary
Lest we regret the errors of history.
Lest we regret.
